Marketing done right by someone who's done it wrong.
Because success is a bad teacher.
Failure is where the hidden treasure is.
When you get something right the first time, you can’t explain why it works. You just know that it did (that time).
Making mistakes and learning the hard way is how things stick.
Learning from experience.
I’m sure you can think of a few life lessons you had to learn the hard way before getting it right.
I’ve had plenty of failures and learned a lot of lessons the hard way since starting my marketing journey. I created this website to help local business owners avoid some of the mistakes I’ve made.
It could save you money. Maybe even a few future headaches.
That said, I’m not a genius. I don’t know everything about advertising. And this is not the Gospel of online marketing.
All this website is how I think about marketing and the recipe I’ve used (and had some mild success with).
If you're looking for someone with all the answers try a different website. God knows there’s plenty of people on the internet who know everything.
Before I get to the meat and potatoes, there are three things I need to address.
I’m going to oversimplify some complicated subjects.
Marketing online seems simple and easy. And the 20 - 30 marketing calls you get about it a week may promise that it’s easy but I got bad news.
Simple does not mean easy.
Marketing online is a challenge.
The good news is if you own or operate a business, that’s proof you can do challenging things.
This is not a website for people who think they know everything about marketing or running a business.
It’s for young hopefuls and veterans who are still in search of ways of improving their batting average at the cash register.
Me is stupid.
Ask any of my 3 siblings or my girlfriend, they’ll tell ya.
If you think this website is stupid you should’ve seen it before I sent it to five local business owners for edits + feedback (3 are now clients).
I broke the website down into 5 sections.
This isn’t a book. It’s a website. You can go order or jump around as you see fit.
If you only read one page after this one, read the Linda page.
It’ll help you put yourself in your customers shoes.
(Plus you might get a chuckle from the picture of my neighbor Linda → it’s bitchin).
P.S This website isn’t free but your money's no good here.
If you get something positive out of this website, I ask that you let me know. I spent about 16 hours building this thing and really do want it to help local businesses.
Please fill out the form on the contact page and let me know what you liked or if something didn’t make sense and you need more clarification.
If you don’t have something nice or constructive to say, file your complaint on the complaint page.
